Choose the material path before you choose the T50 upgrade.

The short answer: choose the DJI Agras T50 Spreading System for compatible dry agricultural granules, and choose the 4-Nozzle Orchard Package when a liquid-spraying plan needs the T50's four-sprinkler configuration and its published 24 L/min total maximum flow. They are not basic and premium versions of the same accessory. They change the aircraft for different materials, calibration routines and field workflows.

01 · Field verdict

Neither one is the “better” upgrade.

The better fit is the one that matches the product being applied. A grower spreading calibrated dry granules has a different payload, refill and cleaning plan from an orchard crew delivering a labelled liquid application at a higher flow. Start with the crop, material and required rate—not the largest published number.

02 · Decision ledger

Compare the job, not just the specification.

These are different payload paths. The spreading system changes the T50 for dry material handling; the orchard package modifies the existing liquid spray system for four-sprinkler operation. Published maximums describe DJI test or system limits and are not guaranteed farm output.

Verified capacity or flow
DJI specifies a 75 L spread tank and a 50 kg internal-load figure. The app may recommend a lower permitted load for the aircraft and conditions.
DJI publishes a 16 L/min total maximum with two sprinklers and 24 L/min total maximum with four sprinklers.
Calibration
Tare calibration is required before first use, and flow calibration is required for each new material template and after changing the hopper gate.
DJI requires flow calibration in the DJI Agras app after the authorized installation.
Installation
Follow the current T50 Spreading System guide: remove the flight battery before installation, secure connections, then complete the required calibrations and checks.
DJI states that installation may only be completed by a DJI authorized dealer; users should not install the package themselves.
Operational limitation
Material size, density, surface condition, moisture, gate choice and calibration can change flow and uniformity. A maximum tank figure is not a universal loading instruction.
Spray droplets may affect the binocular vision system, and DJI states that obstacle bypassing is disabled after the additional sprinklers are mounted.
Strongest buyer fit
Farms or service crews with a repeatable dry-granule use case, a known material specification and a process for testing and recording calibration.
Orchard, vineyard or other higher-flow spray teams whose required label volume, route, canopy and crew plan justify four-sprinkler operation.
03 · Margin notes

What changes in the field?

DRY

Choose the spreader when material behaviour is the main variable.

A fertilizer or seed name alone does not prove fit. Confirm that the material is a compatible dry granule within DJI's 0.5–5 mm range, then consider density, surface, moisture, bridging, breakage and the desired field rate.

  • Create a dedicated material template in the DJI Agras app.
  • Perform tare calibration and material-specific flow calibration.
  • Test a small, measured area before committing to a full block.
  • Inspect the distribution pattern and record the settings that produced it.
LIQUID

Choose four sprinklers when the application plan needs higher total flow.

Moving from the standard two-sprinkler arrangement to four raises DJI's published system maximum from 16 to 24 L/min. That added ceiling matters only when the required volume, aircraft speed, swath, overlap and canopy plan can use it without compromising the label or deposition target.

  • Have a DJI authorized dealer complete the installation.
  • Run the required flow calibration in the DJI Agras app.
  • Plan without obstacle bypassing; it is disabled with the added sprinklers.
  • Clean the binocular vision cameras before and after spray work.
CREW

The accessory does not solve the support workflow.

Before purchase, map the full day: mixing or material staging, loading, battery rotation, refill location, transport, weather limits, cleaning and maintenance. A high published flow can expose a weak refill or power plan faster; it does not remove that bottleneck.

FIT

Some operations may eventually need both—at different times.

A diversified farm may spread granular material in one window and spray liquid in another. That is a changeover and process decision, not simultaneous use. Plan storage, installation steps, cleaning, calibration records and the downtime needed to move between configurations.

05 · Canada field rule

The accessory does not authorize the application.

Under Health Canada SPN2026-02, an RPAS may apply a currently registered end-use pesticide when its label permits aerial application. If the label says “DO NOT apply by air” or contains no aerial-application directions, aerial application by RPAS is prohibited unless Health Canada approves the required label amendment.

  • Follow the aerial label without changing its application rate, spray volume, droplet size, buffer zones or other use conditions, subject to the policy's stated RPAS clarifications.
  • Do not reduce spray volume below the aerial minimum on the label simply because a drone can apply at a different flow or speed.
  • Confirm provincial or territorial training, certification, licence, permission and permit requirements before work. Ontario operators can begin with the province's pesticide licensing guide.
  • If the dry granule being spread is itself a pest control product, its label and applicable pesticide requirements still matter; “spreading” is not an automatic exemption.

06 · Carton and setup check

Confirm what arrives—and what must happen next.

Spreading System

DJI's product information lists the Spreading System, a Small Flow Hopper Gate and a Spare Spinner Disk. However, DJI's separate user guide describes the small-flow hopper gate as sold separately. Because those first-party documents are inconsistent, do not assume that part is in the current Canadian carton.

  • Ask SpeedyDrone to confirm the exact current SKU and box contents before purchase.
  • Confirm that the aircraft firmware supports the spreading system.
  • Plan for tare calibration, material-template setup and flow calibration.
  • Do not assume the aircraft, battery, controller or power equipment is included with an accessory listing.

4-Nozzle Orchard Package

DJI's T50/T25 product information shows two additional atomized sprinkler and spray-lance modules together with model-specific cables, hoses, fittings and installation hardware. DJI warns that T50 and T25 parts can differ in appearance and must not be mixed.

  • Confirm that the supplied kit is the correct T50 version and verify the current carton with SpeedyDrone.
  • Schedule installation with a DJI authorized dealer; do not plan a user installation.
  • Complete flow calibration after installation.
  • Re-check transport fit: DJI notes that the modified aircraft shape differs from the original case foam.

DJI T50 upgrade questions

The answers below separate verified equipment capability from the field and regulatory decisions that still require an exact crop, material and location.

Which T50 upgrade is better, the Spreading System or the 4-Nozzle Orchard Package?

Neither is universally better. Choose the Spreading System for compatible dry agricultural granules, and choose the 4-Nozzle Orchard Package when a verified liquid-spraying plan needs four sprinklers and a higher total flow ceiling.

Can the DJI Agras T50 Spreading System apply powders?

No. DJI states that powder spreading is not supported. The T50 Spreading System is specified for compatible dry granules measuring 0.5–5 mm.

Does the 50 kg spread-tank figure mean I can always load 50 kg?

No. DJI identifies 50 kg as the spread tank's internal-load specification. The DJI Agras app may recommend a lower permitted load based on the aircraft's current status and surroundings, and that lower recommendation must not be exceeded.

Is 24 L/min the flow rate for each sprinkler in the orchard configuration?

No. DJI lists 24 L/min as the maximum total flow for the complete four-sprinkler system. The standard two-sprinkler configuration has a published maximum total flow of 16 L/min.

Does the 4-Nozzle Orchard Package include four new sprinklers?

No. The package expands the T50's standard two-sprinkler system to four, so it adds components for two additional sprinklers. Confirm the exact current Canadian carton before ordering.

Who should install the four-nozzle package, and what calibration is required?

DJI states that only a DJI authorized dealer may install the Atomized Sprinkler Package and that users should not install it themselves. Flow calibration in the DJI Agras app is required after installation.

Does obstacle bypassing still work after the four-nozzle upgrade?

No. DJI states that obstacle bypassing is disabled after the additional sprinklers are mounted because spray droplets may affect the binocular vision system. The vision cameras must be cleaned before and after spraying, and the operation must be planned accordingly.

Can I spray any pesticide in Canada after buying the orchard package?

No. Under Health Canada SPN2026-02, RPAS application is permitted for a currently registered end-use pesticide only when its label permits aerial application, and all applicable label directions must be followed. Provincial or territorial requirements and federal aviation rules also apply.
