DJI ROMO P vs A vs S

The core cleaning platform is shared. Pay more only when the transparent finish, roller choice or flagship station extras solve a real household need.

THE SHORT ANSWER

ROMO S is the value choice; A and P are targeted upgrades.

Choose ROMO S if you want the shared navigation, 25,000 Pa maximum suction, extendable edge-cleaning arms and water-tank base in the simplest white finish. Choose ROMO A when the transparent robot and its bristle-and-rubber roller are worth the step-up, but a transparent station is not. Choose ROMO P only when you specifically want the transparent robot and station plus its extra floor-deodorizer dispensing and dust-bag UV functions. The premium does not buy a different obstacle-sensing architecture.

START WITH WHAT DOES NOT CHANGE

The shared platform matters more than the finish

DJI lists the same high-performance binocular fisheye vision sensors and wide-angle solid-state LiDAR across ROMO P, A and S. The official comparison also gives all three the same headline 25,000 Pa suction rating and 164 mL onboard tank. That means a buyer should not assume P maps better, avoids obstacles better or has more suction merely because it is the flagship.

Claim context: suction, obstacle detection and “maintenance-free” language come from DJI tests and conditions. Home layout, lighting, reflective surfaces, firmware, hair type and consumable condition can change real results.

THE DIFFERENCES YOU PAY FOR

Three models, three clear buyer profiles

ROMO A · STEP-UP
Authentic DJI ROMO A robot with white water-tank base station

Buy A for the transparent robot

ROMO A pairs a transparent robot with a white base station. DJI describes it as including the S feature set plus a bristle-and-rubber roller. It is the middle choice for buyers who value the visible mechanical design.

ROMO S · VALUE
Authentic DJI ROMO S robot and white water-tank base station

Buy S for the core platform

ROMO S uses a white robot and white station while retaining the shared sensing, maximum suction and self-cleaning base architecture. If aesthetics and P-only extras are not decision drivers, S is the rational starting point.

04

IS P WORTH IT?

Use a three-question upgrade test

  1. Will the station be visible? If it sits in a prominent open-plan room, P’s transparent station can be a real design choice. In a utility room, that premium is harder to justify.
  2. Will you use the deodorizer function?P is the relevant model when floor deodorizer dispensing is part of the routine. If not, this feature should not carry weight in the decision.
  3. Do you value the transparent robot enough for A?A is the clean midpoint: the visible mechanical robot and specified roller upgrade without paying for a transparent base and P-only station functions.

“Flagship” is worth it only when its exclusive features become part of the weekly routine. Shared headline specifications are not a reason to upgrade.

READ THE FOOTNOTE

“200 days maintenance-free” does not mean zero upkeep

DJI’s footnote limits “maintenance-free” to the base station washboard under its test definition. It does not remove the need to refill clean water, empty or manage dirty water, replace consumables, clear obstructions or care for the robot. Treat the statement as a base-station washboard claim, not a promise that the complete cleaning system can be ignored for 200 days.

QUESTIONS CANADIAN BUYERS ASK

Frequently asked questions

What is the main difference between DJI ROMO P, A and S?

All three share the core vision-and-LiDAR sensing platform, 25,000 Pa maximum suction claim and 164 mL onboard tank. S is the white value model, A adds a transparent robot and bristle-and-rubber roller, and P adds a transparent base plus floor-deodorizer and dust-bag UV functions.

Do ROMO P, A and S use the same obstacle-sensing system?

DJI lists high-performance binocular fisheye vision sensors and wide-angle solid-state LiDAR for all three. Performance still depends on lighting, surface reflectivity, firmware and the actual obstacle.

Which DJI ROMO is the best value in Canada?

ROMO S is the strongest starting point when core cleaning and navigation are the priority. A and P are better values only for buyers who specifically want their exclusive design, roller or station features.

Is ROMO P better at navigation than ROMO S?

DJI does not position P as having a different obstacle-sensing architecture in its official comparison. Buy P for its finish and station extras, not for an assumed navigation upgrade.

Who should choose DJI ROMO A?

Choose A if you want the transparent robot and the specified bristle-and-rubber roller while keeping a white base station and avoiding P-only station extras.

What does DJI’s 200-day maintenance-free claim mean?

DJI limits the claim to the base-station washboard under specified test conditions. It does not include refilling tanks, replacing consumables or routine robot care.

Are the SpeedyDrone ROMO listings water-tank versions?

This comparison uses the current SpeedyDrone ROMO P, A and S water-tank-version listings. Check the live product page at checkout because availability and included items can change.
