What actually changes in the shooting workflow?
RS 5 earns its place when a specific change removes friction. These four areas matter more than comparing a single headline specification.
Tracking is more direct on RS 5
With the RS Enhanced Intelligent Tracking Module, RS 5 can show the tracking view on its touchscreen and let the operator select a framed subject there. That can help a solo presenter, product demonstrator or small wedding team hold framing without adding a separate gimbal operator. The module is still required, and intelligent tracking is supported in PF and PTF follow modes—not FPV mode.
RS 4 is not excluded from enhanced tracking

DJI states that operating time is reduced while the gimbal is moving and that actual RS 5 results can vary with environment, usage and firmware version.
The larger operational change is recharge time. DJI's approximate one-hour RS 5 result requires a 65W PD-compatible charger at 25°C. RS 4's approximate 2.5-hour result was measured with an 18W fast charger. For teams turning gear between morning and evening assignments, the charger and schedule deserve the same attention as the battery number.
Setup feedback targets repeatability
RS 4 already offers Teflon-coated axis arms and a tilt-axis fine-tuning knob. RS 5 extends the fine-tuning workflow and adds a Z-Axis Indicator intended to give feedback on the operator's steps. That does not automatically make every shot smooth; balance, tuning, focal length, walking technique and payload distribution still matter.
For a production team that rebuilds several rigs every week, incremental balancing controls may save cumulative setup time. For an owner who leaves one compact camera-lens combination built and balanced, the practical gain may be much smaller.
