The official Action 6 is impressive - but not for the reasons early leaks claimed.
The real upgrade is a larger square sensor, f/2.0 variable-aperture imaging, 8K30, square 4K Custom, 4K HorizonSteady and more usable internal storage. It is not a 1-inch-sensor, RockSteady 4.0 or 5.3K60 camera.

The f/2.0 aperture may matter more than the dynamic-range headline.
DJI lists both cameras at up to 13.5 stops. Action 6 separates itself through the larger square sensor and the ability to open to f/2.0. That can help at dusk, under tree cover and on darker urban rides, but moving athletes still require a usable shutter speed.

The larger square sensor is designed for shoot-once, crop-later production.
This matters most when one action clip must serve YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Shorts without a second run.
Build the mount, light, stabilization and edit around the sport.
The camera specification helps, but the mount and exposure determine whether the footage is publishable. Use one complete test run before the athlete commits to the full line.
Choose the final format
