Gateway Mode connects O4 Ground Station to DJI FlightHub 2 for cloud-connected video and remote-control workflows. DJI states that, with Dock 3 under its test conditions, coverage can reach up to 30 km. Treat that number as a test ceiling, not a design radius or permission to fly beyond the authorized operation.
Relay Mode
Relay Mode is intended for offline areas or severe obstruction. A station placed at a suitable high point can extend transmission and connect sequentially to compatible remotes and docks. It does not replace RF surveying, line-of-sight analysis, terrain modelling or a recovery procedure.

Survey the RF and terrain
Map buildings, trees, ridges, interference, antenna height and expected flight corridors. Use DJI's Signal Map as operational evidence after deployment, not as a replacement for the pre-design survey.
Design power and backhaul
Gateway Mode needs a reliable network path. Remote sites also need grounded power, surge protection, weatherproof cabling, monitoring and a safe maintenance plan. DJI lists solar and third-party photovoltaic options, subject to supported design.
Build loss-of-link behaviour
Document what the aircraft, dock, cloud system and crew do when radio, internet, positioning or power is degraded. Recovery logic matters more than a maximum-range headline.
Separate technical range from legal privilege
Transport Canada determines the operating category from what, how and where you fly. A longer communications link does not by itself authorize BVLOS, controlled-airspace or remote unattended operations.
