Do not let a live video feed create untracked gaps
Record the assigned polygon, flight path, altitude, sensor, time, weather, battery, completed coverage and unresolved areas. A compelling live image is not evidence that the entire search area was covered.
From detection to rescue handoff
A coordinate without context can send ground teams into the wrong hazard.
The drone crew should provide a compact operational picture: where, what, confidence level, movement, access route, hazards, imagery and how the position was derived.

Does buying DJI Dock 3 allow automatic BVLOS search missions in Canada?
No. Hardware ownership does not authorize BVLOS or remote operation. Lower-risk BVLOS under Level 1 Complex is limited to defined conditions and requires the appropriate pilot certificate, RPAS Operator Certificate, drone declaration and operating environment. Other BVLOS operations may require an SFOC-RPAS.
What Canadian certification is required for a public-safety drone?
The required certificate depends on the operation, airspace, proximity to people, aircraft declaration and whether the flight is VLOS, EVLOS, sheltered or BVLOS. Advanced operations require an Advanced Pilot Certificate and an eligible drone for the intended privilege. Lower-risk BVLOS requires Level 1 Complex credentials and an RPAS Operator Certificate. Operations outside those rules may require an SFOC-RPAS.
Are government emergency-response organizations exempt from drone rules?
No. Transport Canada’s 2025 changes created an SFOC application-fee exemption for government organizations involved with emergency response, but that does not remove the need for the required authorization, operational controls or aviation coordination.
