Can You Fly DJI Avata 360 Without Goggles? RC 2 vs FPV Control Explained
You can fly Avata 360 with a familiar screen-and-sticks setup. Goggles are a different control route, not an entry requirement.
No goggles required with RC 2
No, you do not need FPV goggles to use DJI Avata 360. With DJI RC 2, RC-N2 or RC-N3, Avata 360 uses a familiar twin-stick camera-drone workflow. Goggles are required when you choose DJI RC Motion 3 or DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 instead. Choose around the experience you want: conventional screen-based control, immersive FPV-style flight, or features tied to one of those control routes.

You do not have to be an FPV pilot
If you already fly a DJI Mini, Air or Mavic with two sticks and a screen, Avata 360 with RC 2 is the lower-friction route. You look at the controller display, steer with the sticks and use familiar functions such as takeoff, landing, recording and Return to Home.

RC 2 workflow
What can you do without goggles?
The RC 2 route is not a reduced “training mode.” In 360 Mode, it is the conventional-camera option for capturing the full scene while using the controller screen to manage the flight.
Standard remote advantages in 360 Mode include QuickShots, Omnidirectional ActiveTrack within FocusTrack and DJI’s enhanced transmission workflow. Goggles-specific functions such as head tracking remain on the immersive route.
Why the camera matters
360 capture changes when you choose the composition
A normal camera drone asks you to aim the camera while flying. Avata 360 can record the surrounding scene first and let you choose a flat view later. DJI lists up to 8K/60fps HDR in 360 Mode, a 360° Virtual Gimbal and separate 360 and Single Lens modes.

RC 2, goggles and motion control change how you interact with the aircraft. They do not grant permission for a location or operation. Check the aircraft’s current Canadian classification, registration and pilot requirements, the airspace, visual-observer needs for a goggles operation, and any site restrictions before flight. Can DJI Avata 360 fly without goggles?
Yes. DJI lists DJI RC 2, RC-N2 and RC-N3 as standard remote-controller options for Avata 360. These use a conventional screen-based, twin-stick workflow.
Can I use DJI RC 2 with Avata 360?

Can DJI RC 2 be used together with Goggles N3?

Does FPV Remote Controller 3 give Avata 360 Manual mode?
No. DJI’s current Avata 360 guide explicitly says the aircraft does not support Manual mode. Do not buy the FPV remote assuming it unlocks full Manual M-mode flight.
What does the RC 2 Fly More Combo add?

When should I choose the Motion Fly More Combo?

Do I need to edit 360 footage before sharing it?
Usually, yes. DJI notes that panoramic video must be edited before it can be exported as a standard flat file. The value is that the editor can choose the view and aspect ratio after capture.
Does using RC 2 remove Canadian drone-rule requirements?
No. The controller choice does not replace Transport Canada rules, airspace checks, aircraft requirements or site restrictions. A goggles operation may also require planning around maintaining the required visual awareness.
