Osmo 360 II is official, but it is still not a confirmed Canadian product. DJI announced on August 27 that the camera will make its European debut at IFA in Berlin from September 4 to 8. As of September 2, DJI's Canadian product and store routes for Osmo 360 II return 404 pages. A European event appearance is not a Canadian launch.

Buy for a real project deadline, not an unconfirmed release calendar.
Buy the Insta360 X6 now if you need a current Canadian option, already use Insta360's editing ecosystem, or cannot leave a production date dependent on unknown DJI Canada timing and pricing.

The August leaks no longer need to carry the story. DJI's regional product pages and its August 27 IFA announcement now provide official evidence. The remaining uncertainty is Canadian availability.

What the early reports got right
The early hardware and specification reports correctly identified several of the II's real upgrades: native 8K60, a 2,150mAh battery, user-replaceable outer lenses, 14.5-stop manufacturer-rated dynamic range, AI SuperNight 2.0, Spotlight Follow, NFC and a dual-direction quick release.
That does not make every headline about the camera accurate. DJI already advertised 1-inch 360 imaging, 105GB of usable internal storage and up to 100 minutes of 8K30 recording for the first-generation Osmo 360.
The useful comparison is therefore not a list of every large number on the new page. It is which changes alter capture, repair or setup decisions.
1-inch 360 imaging: this system-level imaging-area description existed on the original Osmo 360. DJI identifies the physical sensors as dual 1/1.1-inch square CMOS.
105GB usable storage: both generations list the same usable internal-storage figure.
Bigger battery: capacity rises from 1,950mAh to 2,150mAh, but DJI quotes the same up-to-100-minute 8K30 reference for both generations.
IFA debut: DJI's European show announcement expands official visibility. It does not announce Canadian sales, pricing or stock.
On paper, Osmo 360 II answers X6 aggressively
The two cameras now share several core ideas: dual square 1/1.1-inch-class sensors, 1-inch-equivalent 360 imaging-area positioning, 8K capture and replaceable lenses. The differentiators are frame rate, storage, low-light processing and ecosystem.
Osmo 360 II paper advantages
Native 8K60 exceeds X6's native 8K50 headline. DJI also lists 105GB usable internal storage, versus X6's 47GB usable, plus AI SuperNight 2.0 and DJI-specific capture features.
Why X6 still makes sense
X6 is a current, buyable system with a known Insta360 App and Studio workflow, replaceable lenses, PureVideo low-light processing and an existing Canadian product path. A shipping product can be tested before a deadline.
What specifications cannot decide
Low-light quality, colour, stitching, stabilization and heat behaviour require matched real-world testing. Manufacturer pages alone cannot support an absolute image-quality winner.
The strongest reason to wait must be specific
Waiting makes sense only when the II solves a requirement that matters enough to delay the project.
- You specifically need 8K60 rather than 8K50.
- You repeatedly work around high-contrast scenes and want to evaluate DJI's stated 14.5-stop system.
- Replaceable lenses materially reduce risk for your shooting environment.
- You prefer DJI's app, audio or mounting workflow.
- Your schedule can absorb an unknown Canadian launch window.

Is DJI Osmo 360 II available in Canada?
No confirmed Canadian release was available from DJI's Canadian product or store pages checked September 2, 2026. The camera is sold in selected Asian markets, and DJI has announced its European debut at IFA. DJI still has not published the Canadian price, package lineup or release date.
Canadian buyers should separate four events: an overseas launch, a DJI Canada product listing, a Canadian store listing and actual authorized-retailer inventory. One does not prove the next.
Should original Osmo 360 owners upgrade?
A new flagship is not automatically a useful upgrade. Look for a repeated constraint in your current work.
Consider Osmo 360 II if…
- 8K60 or 4K240 solves a real motion-capture need.
- Replaceable lenses materially change your repair-risk calculation.
- You regularly exceed the first generation's stated dynamic-range capability.
- Spotlight Follow, NFC connection or dual-direction quick release improves a repeated workflow.
Keep the original if…
- 8K50 already covers your delivery formats.
- Your footage is mainly daylight or controlled-light content.
- 105GB internal storage and the current DJI workflow are sufficient.
- The upgrade would not change what you can deliver or charge for.

Does the 2,150mAh battery make Osmo 360 II run longer?
Not automatically. The II's included battery has more capacity than the original camera's 1,950mAh battery, but DJI lists the same up-to-100-minute 8K30 reference for both cameras under controlled test conditions. Mode, screen use, wireless features, temperature and other settings can change actual runtime.
Should I buy Insta360 X6 now or wait?
Buy X6 now if you have a near-term project, want the Insta360 workflow or need a currently available Canadian purchase. Wait only if Osmo 360 II's specific capabilities are important enough to accept unknown Canadian timing and price.
Is Osmo 360 II better than Insta360 X6?
It has stronger paper specifications in areas such as maximum native 8K frame rate and usable built-in storage. That does not prove an absolute image-quality winner without controlled same-scene testing.
Can I order Osmo 360 II from another region?
Cross-border purchasing can introduce warranty, service, firmware, tax, return and accessory-availability questions. Confirm regional support and landed cost before importing any camera that is not officially listed for Canada.
