DJI Power 1000 Mini Runtime Guide: Is 1008Wh Enough for Your Creator, Camping or Backup Setup?

For low- and mid-power loads, 1008Wh may cover a multi-hour creator session, an evening at camp or many hours of router backup. It is the wrong size when your combined load needs more than 800W continuously or when you need long runtime without a recharge opportunity.

1008Wh typical 800W continuous Approx. 11.5 kg

Quick answer

A useful estimate starts with average watts, not a list of device names. Using a conservative example allowance of 15%, the Power 1000 Mini provides about 857Wh of planning energy. That works out to roughly 8.6 hours at a steady 100W load, 4.8 hours at 180W, or 1.1 hours at the rated 800W continuous limit. These are calculation examples, not DJI runtime guarantees.

Build your own estimate

Use watts and watt-hours correctly

Watt-hours describe stored energy. Watts describe how quickly the connected equipment is using that energy. Mixing those two numbers is the fastest way to overestimate a power station.

  1. List every device that will run at the same time.
  2. Record its average draw in watts. A plug-in power meter is better than a label estimate when the load varies.
  3. Add the simultaneous loads together.
  4. Decide how much energy you want to keep as a reserve.
  5. Divide your planned usable energy by the average load.
Planning formula Runtime ≈ usable watt-hours ÷ average watts
Example: 1008Wh × 0.85 = 857Wh. At 100W, 857 ÷ 100 = about 8.6 hours.

The 85% factor is an editorial planning allowance for conversion loss, operating overhead and a small reserve. It is not a measured DJI inverter-efficiency specification. Use a larger reserve for outage planning.

Capacity is only half the test

Check the output limit before calculating runtime

DJI specifies a maximum AC output of 1000W for the North American version, with 800W continuous output. A device can have modest energy needs over an hour and still be unsuitable if its steady draw or startup surge exceeds what the station can supply.

800Wrated continuous AC output
1000Wmaximum AC output, not the continuous rating

Compressors, pumps, heaters and other motor-driven or resistive appliances need extra scrutiny. Check both running watts and startup draw, then test the exact appliance before relying on it.

Calculation examples

What 1008Wh can look like in common setups

Every row uses 857Wh of planning energy, a steady average load and no charging input while the devices run. Replace the assumed watts with your own measured load before buying.

Example setup Assumed average load Calculation Estimated runtime Planning note
Router + modem 25W 857 ÷ 25 34.3 hours Your internet provider's local equipment may still lose service during an outage.
Campsite lights + phone + laptop 100W 857 ÷ 100 8.6 hours Cooking equipment, heaters or a cooler can change this load quickly.
Creator laptop + camera batteries 130W 857 ÷ 130 6.6 hours Battery chargers taper and cycle, so the actual average may be lower or higher.
Small projector / monitor setup 180W 857 ÷ 180 4.8 hours Brightness, speakers and attached computers must be included.
Drone field-charging workflow 300W 857 ÷ 300 2.9 hours This is charger operating time, not a promised number of flight batteries.
Rated continuous output 800W 857 ÷ 800 1.1 hours Leave extra margin for startup draw and changing loads.

Rounded estimates. Real runtime changes with output path, temperature, battery condition, device behaviour, cable losses and the reserve you choose.

Buyer fit

When Power 1000 Mini is enough, and when it is not

It fits well when

  • Your combined load stays comfortably below 800W.
  • You mainly charge laptops, cameras, phones, lights or networking equipment.
  • Portability matters and approximately 11.5 kg is manageable.
  • You can recharge from the grid, a vehicle or solar between sessions.
  • You want a built-in 100W retractable USB-C cable for everyday devices.

Choose a larger setup when

  • Your equipment needs more than 800W continuously.
  • Several high-power devices must run at the same time.
  • You need overnight or multi-day operation with no recharge opportunity.
  • Your appliance has a large startup surge that has not been tested.
  • You expect to add DJI Power Expansion Battery 2000. DJI's current FAQ says the Mini does not support it.

Recharge planning

A recharge opportunity can matter more than another 200Wh

DJI lists 0–80% AC recharging in 58 minutes under its stated test conditions. The Mini also has a built-in car-charging module and 400W MPPT solar input, but the correct DJI car or MC4 solar cable is still required.

  • Grid access between shoots can reset the plan quickly.
  • Vehicle charging can support a mobile workflow, but the input depends on the cable and vehicle connection.
  • Solar input is weather-dependent. A 400W input rating does not mean a panel will deliver 400W throughout a Canadian day.
  • USB-C input is useful for flexibility but is not the same as the fast AC recharge path.

Drone and creator charging

Do not convert charger hours directly into battery counts

A drone field kit has several energy losses and starting states: the flight battery may be partly charged, the charger has its own efficiency curve, and the power station may be running a laptop or controller at the same time.

DJI's current FAQ lists SDC fast-charging support for several DJI battery families when the matching cable is used, including Matrice 4 Series, Mavic 3 Series, Mavic 4 Pro, Air 3 Series, Matrice 30 Series and Inspire 3.

Before ordering: confirm the exact aircraft, battery, SDC cable, charging wattage and current SpeedyDrone compatibility listing. Do not assume an older cable page that names Power 1000 or Power 500 also covers Power 1000 Mini.

Canadian planning notes

Conditions around the power station change the result

  • DJI specifies a -10°C to 45°C operating and recharging range. Canadian winter conditions can fall below that limit.
  • Cold, heat and battery age can reduce practical runtime.
  • Solar planning needs season, shade, panel angle and expected daylight hours, not panel wattage alone.
  • For outage use, test the complete router, modem, computer or appliance setup before depending on it.
  • Keep a reserve for longer-than-expected outages or a second work session.
  • Check the product page for the current price, fulfilment status and exact package contents.

Buyer FAQ

DJI Power 1000 Mini runtime questions

How long will DJI Power 1000 Mini run a 100W device?

The nominal calculation is 1008Wh ÷ 100W, or about 10.1 hours. Using this guide's 85% planning factor gives about 8.6 hours. The difference allows for conversion loss, operating overhead and a small reserve; actual runtime must be measured with the real device.

Can DJI Power 1000 Mini run an 800W device?

DJI rates the unit for 800W continuous AC output. The example model gives about 1.1 hours at a steady 800W load, but startup surge and changing device draw still matter. Keep margin below the limit and test the exact equipment.

Can it run a refrigerator or other appliance?

It depends on both running watts and startup surge. Compressors and motors can draw much more power when starting. Do not rely on the appliance's average wattage alone, and do not assume every appliance below the 1000W maximum will work.

How long can it keep a router and modem running?

At an assumed combined average load of 25W, the 85% planning example gives about 34.3 hours. Measure your own equipment. Local internet service may still stop if upstream provider equipment loses power.

Is 1008Wh enough for camping?

It can cover lights, phones, a laptop and other modest loads for many hours. It may be too small when electric cooking, heating, cooling or several high-power devices are part of the same setup. Add the simultaneous watts before deciding.

Can DJI Power 1000 Mini charge drone batteries?

Yes, in supported setups. DJI lists SDC fast-charging support for several DJI battery families with the matching cable. Battery count depends on the exact battery, starting charge, cable, charging power and other devices using the station.

Are the solar panel and car-charging cables included?

The car-charging and MPPT modules are built into the power station, but DJI's FAQ specifies separate car and MC4 solar charging cables for those connections. Confirm the current package contents and cable compatibility before ordering.

Can Power 1000 Mini use the DJI Power Expansion Battery 2000?

No. DJI's current FAQ says Power 1000 Mini cannot expand capacity with DJI Power Expansion Battery 2000. Buyers who need longer off-grid runtime should assess a larger DJI Power platform instead.

What is the current DJI Power 1000 Mini price in Canada?

SpeedyDrone listed it at $539 CAD when checked on August 26, 2026. Prices and fulfilment status can change, so verify the live product page before purchase.
