DJI Matrice 4T Standard vs Response Edition: Which Package Fits Your Canadian Team?
The thermal camera does not change. The buying decision is whether your team needs a core Matrice 4T package or a SpeedyDrone configuration that adds response accessories and a larger field kit.
Buy the kit your mission already calls for.
Choose the standard Matrice 4T if your team already knows which batteries, lighting, speaker and charging accessories it needs. Choose SpeedyDrone's Response Edition if AS1 aerial communication, AL1 night illumination and a multi-battery field setup are already part of the mission. The aircraft and imaging system are the same. The decision is whether the bundled response accessories save your team from building the field kit separately.
Response Edition is a SpeedyDrone package name, not a separate DJI aircraft.
DJI's official Matrice 4 Series consists of the Matrice 4T and Matrice 4E. SpeedyDrone uses "Response Edition" for a Canadian package built around the standard Matrice 4T aircraft.
Both buying paths use the same Matrice 4T sensor platform: 48 MP wide, medium tele and tele cameras, a 640 by 512 thermal camera, NIR auxiliary light and a laser rangefinder. Response Edition changes the package. It does not add a different thermal sensor, camera block or higher-performance aircraft.
What actually changes between Standard and Response Edition?
The table compares package logic, not aircraft performance. Check the live listing and written quote before ordering because enterprise package contents and pricing can change.
| Decision factor | Standard Matrice 4T | Response Edition |
|---|---|---|
| Aircraft | DJI Matrice 4T | The same DJI Matrice 4T in the Response package |
| Thermal and visible sensors | Same integrated camera system | Same integrated camera system |
| AS1 Speaker | Not part of the standard comparison package; add separately if required | Included on the current SpeedyDrone listing |
| AL1 Spotlight | Not part of the standard comparison package; add separately if required | Included on the current SpeedyDrone listing |
| Battery setup | Confirm the current standard package contents | Three Intelligent Flight Batteries in the confirmed Response Edition package |
| Landing pad | Confirm if needed | The current collection and listing summary reference a 65 cm landing pad; confirm it in the quote |
| Best buyer | Team with an existing accessory, battery and charging plan | Team that has already defined lighting, voice communication and repeated-flight requirements |
| Live price checked 2026-08-24 | CAD $10,200 | CAD $11,620 |
Prices are live store references, not permanent MSRP. The difference was CAD $1,420 when checked on August 24, 2026.
Standard is complete when your team already owns the rest of the workflow.
The standard package is not a lesser Matrice 4T. It is the cleaner purchase when the response accessories would duplicate equipment or sit unused.
Your accessory plan already exists
- Your fleet already has Matrice 4 batteries or compatible charging equipment.
- The work is mainly daylight thermal or visual inspection.
- Aerial voice communication is not part of the deliverable.
- You want to select the exact battery count rather than accept a preset field package.
- Your utility, security or public-safety team already owns AS1, AL1 or both.
Light and voice are part of the operation
- Night search or low-light scene work needs active visible illumination.
- The aircraft must deliver live or prepared voice messages.
- The team is building its first portable Matrice 4 response kit.
- Repeated flights make a multi-battery rotation useful.
- Buying one reviewed configuration is easier than sourcing each accessory separately.
AS1 and AL1 change the field job, and they also change the flight plan.
DJI's published figures are manufacturer laboratory results. They describe the accessories under stated conditions, not guaranteed communication or identification distances in every Canadian environment.
Live and prepared aerial messaging
AS1 supports real-time broadcast, recorded broadcast, media import and text-to-speech. DJI currently lists English and Mandarin Chinese for text-to-speech.
Camera-linked visible illumination
AL1 supports always-on and strobe modes, with normal and wide-field illumination options. It can follow the camera direction or hold a selected angle through the supported control settings.
Flight and scene caveat: DJI says AS1 affects aircraft power performance. AL1 also affects power performance, and obstacle avoidance turns off automatically when the light is on. Do not point AL1 at people's eyes. DJI also warns against using AS1 near people or in urban areas concentrated with noise-sensitive structures. Build these states into the mission briefing, reserve policy and abort plan.
Choose from the required output, not the words "Response Edition."
Two organizations with the same Matrice 4T may need different kits. The mission output tells you whether AS1, AL1 or a larger battery rotation earns its place.
Compare equal contents before calling the bundle a saving.
The current difference is CAD $1,420. To calculate the package value accurately, compare the standard kit with two additional batteries, AS1, AL1, the landing pad and the same charging contents.

Confirmed package baseline: Response Edition includes three Intelligent Flight Batteries, AS1, AL1 and a 65 cm landing pad. Confirm the charging accessories and complete written contents on the quote before comparing the bundle with separate purchases.
Package ownership does not authorize the operation.
DJI lists the Matrice 4 Series at 1,219 g standard takeoff weight with standard propellers, so it is well above Canada's 250 g registration threshold. Transport Canada classifies aircraft from 250 g through 25 kg as small drones.
The required pilot certificate, aircraft declaration and permissions depend on the operation. Proximity to people, controlled airspace, VLOS or EVLOS, site restrictions and any special conditions still need a mission-specific review.
- Register and mark the aircraft.
- Confirm the operation category and pilot certificate.
- Check the exact aircraft configuration for any required safety assurance declaration.
- Treat night, public-safety and near-people work as operating scenarios, not accessory entitlements.

Eight items to settle before the purchase order.
A useful recommendation starts with the operation. Send the actual requirement rather than asking which package is "better" in the abstract.
Request a Matrice 4T configuration recommendation.
Send SpeedyDrone your province, mission, day or night requirement, AS1 and AL1 need, preferred battery count, charging plan, existing Matrice 4 equipment and deployment date. The team can review Standard versus Response Edition against the actual field workflow.
Matrice 4T Standard and Response Edition FAQ
Is Matrice 4T Response Edition an official DJI model?
No. Response Edition is a SpeedyDrone Canada package name. The core aircraft is the official DJI Matrice 4T.
Does Response Edition have a better thermal camera?
No. Standard and Response Edition use the same Matrice 4T aircraft and integrated camera system. The package changes the included field accessories, not the thermal or visible sensors.
What does the Matrice 4T Response Edition add?
The confirmed Response Edition package adds the DJI AS1 Speaker, DJI AL1 Spotlight, three Intelligent Flight Batteries and a 65 cm landing pad to the Matrice 4T field kit. Confirm the complete written contents at the time of purchase because packages can change.
When is the standard Matrice 4T the better choice?
Choose Standard when your team already has batteries, charging equipment or AS1 and AL1, or when the mission does not require aerial messaging or active illumination.
How much more does Response Edition cost?
When checked on August 24, 2026, Standard was CAD $10,200 and Response Edition was CAD $11,620, a difference of CAD $1,420. Prices can change, so use the live product pages for the current figure.
Is Response Edition cheaper than buying the accessories separately?
That cannot be concluded reliably from the price gap alone. Compare the standard package, two additional batteries, AS1, AL1, landing pad and charging contents on the same written basis before calculating a bundle saving.
What changes when the AL1 Spotlight is turned on?
DJI says obstacle avoidance deactivates automatically when AL1 is on, and the accessory affects aircraft power performance. The crew should account for that state in routing, separation, reserve planning and the abort procedure.
Does buying Response Edition authorize night or public-safety flights in Canada?
No. Accessories do not grant operating authority. Registration, pilot certification, aircraft declarations, airspace access, proximity to people and other requirements depend on the exact Canadian operation.
