Visible and thermal imaging in one aircraft
The 11× telephoto camera has a 252 mm equivalent focal length. The infrared camera offers 1280 × 1024 resolution, with 2560 × 2048 available in UHR mode. Visible-light and infrared fusion modes help relate thermal findings to scene detail. A laser rangefinder supports distance measurements up to 3 km under the specified test conditions.
Flight performance and sensing
Maximum flight time is 59 minutes, measured without payload in a windless laboratory environment at 20 m above sea level, flying at a constant 15 m/s from full charge to 0%. Operational endurance will vary. The maximum speed of 21 m/s applies only to FlyTo tasks; other modes are limited to 15 m/s.
The aircraft combines a six-directional binocular colour vision system, rotating LiDAR, a downward infrared ranging sensor, and forward, upward, and downward mmWave radars. Sensing performance depends on lighting, surface characteristics, weather, and regional feature availability. The aircraft is rated IP55 with a specified operating temperature range of -40°C to 50°C.

Payloads and remote workflows
Three E-Port interfaces and up to 450 g of effective payload capacity support optional equipment such as the AL2D SpotLight, AS2D Speaker, and AP1 Parachute. Accessories affect flight time and sensing performance. When the spotlight is on, visual obstacle sensing is disabled and only mmWave radar and LiDAR remain active. Onboard AI supports detection of 17 object types; additional cloud functions depend on the selected FlightHub 2 deployment and configuration.
O4 Ground Station included
The included ground station provides the communication and RTK base-station functions required for Dock 4 deployment. It supports multi-station roaming and Ethernet connectivity. Cellular networking requires the DJI Cellular Dongle 2 and compatible local service, where supported.

SpeedyDrone configuration guidance
Choose the aircraft configuration around the mission
Matrice 5TD is built for Dock-operated workflows. DJI's FAQ states that it does not support manual flight using a remote controller. Confirm that this operating model fits your project before choosing either North American combo; both include O4, while DJI Dock 4 is supplied separately. Include your chosen combo SKU, MAT5TD-O4-CB or MAT5TD-O4-AP1-CB, in the quote request.
Start with the required imagery
The native 1280 × 1024 thermal camera and 11× telephoto camera support different views of the same scene. Define the target size, working distance and required visible/thermal output, then assess representative images before committing to an inspection workflow.
Choose AP1 as part of the configuration
Select the AP1 combo when your project calls for the pre-installed parachute. For later installation, review the AP1 and accessory-mount configuration together. Include activation, inspection and replacement after deployment in the equipment plan.
Plan around the loaded aircraft
Include all mounts and accessories in the payload and endurance calculation. The 450 g payload figure is not an additional allowance beyond the 3050 g maximum takeoff weight. Choose the spotlight/speaker configuration for the work required, then validate the final setup.
Payload choice changes the flight-time reference
| Aircraft without payload | 59 min |
|---|---|
| Aircraft with AP1 parachute | 55.3 min |
| AP1, speaker and spotlight; speaker and light enabled | 41.06 min |
DJI's accessory/endurance comparison, page 74, lists maximum flight time at 15 m/s. These figures compare configurations; they do not establish your mission duration. The headline 59-minute specification uses a no-payload, windless laboratory test from full charge to 0%. See the official test conditions.
Operating model: DJI FAQ, Aircraft. Payload and AP1 requirements: user manual, Accessories. Recommendations above are SpeedyDrone planning guidance; the listed package contents remain the basis for each combo.
Prepare the aircraft and the deployment together
Use the following checks to scope commissioning and the final equipment list. The included ground station provides part of the system; the location, batteries, connectivity and software still need a project-specific plan.
| Dock and site integration | Confirm the separately supplied Dock 4 and the O4 installation location. Use the Dock 4 site-planning guidance for power, network and ground-station placement, then complete the site survey before installation. |
|---|---|
| Battery rotation and return reserve | Confirm flight-battery quantities explicitly. Validate the route with its actual payload, weather and return reserve rather than scheduling from the 59-minute maximum. DJI notes reduced aircraft performance below -20°C. |
| Payload and sensing checks | Commission the final payload arrangement. AP1 affects sensing of small obstacles behind and above the aircraft; the spotlight's operating state also changes sensing capability. Review these limits before testing the route near structures or cables. |
| Two cellular requirements | The aircraft has built-in dual 4G modules, with regional availability conditions. Cellular networking for the O4 Ground Station requires a separate DJI Cellular Dongle 2. Confirm support, carrier coverage and data plans for both roles at the Canadian site. |
| Software and lifecycle | Confirm the required FlightHub 2 deployment, account configuration and commissioned workflow. Record the selected payloads, firmware and maintenance schedule. AP1 is single-use after deployment and requires inspection at least every six months. |
Aircraft/accessory basis: user manual, pages 74–88. Cold-site limitation and site preparation: installation manual. Regional radio/cellular conditions: DJI FAQ and specifications. DJI requires authorized technicians for system installation and configuration.

Configuration and purchasing guidance
Ask our team to compare MAT5TD-O4-CB and MAT5TD-O4-AP1-CB around your AP1 requirement, planned payloads and existing Dock 4 equipment. Confirm the battery quantity, mounts and software scope in the quote. State the selected combo SKU in your enquiry so the requested configuration is explicit.
Toronto pickup and Canadian delivery
The Toronto showroom offers product guidance and pickup for eligible in-stock orders. Contact the team first about the selected Matrice 5TD combo; an online listing does not confirm a display unit or immediate pickup. For Canadian delivery, provide your postal code and required timeline for a confirmed shipping quotation. Check our Toronto showroom details and shipping information.
Order follow-up and service enquiries
SpeedyDrone can coordinate repair intake and forwarding to a repair partner. Repair work is performed by the partner; the specific equipment, acceptance, quotation and timing must be confirmed in writing before delivery to the store. See the repair-intake policy. Include any site installation, commissioning or training needs in your enquiry and request a confirmed service scope.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the two combos?
Both include the O4 Ground Station. The AP1 configuration also has the parachute pre-installed and includes the specified parachute and connection-cable screws.
Is a handheld remote controller included?
A handheld remote controller is not included in either listed combo.
Does the 59-minute figure describe normal mission endurance?
It is a maximum laboratory measurement without payload, in a windless environment, flying at 15 m/s from full charge to 0%. Actual operational flight time varies.
Can I fly Matrice 5TD manually using a remote controller?
No. DJI explicitly states that Matrice 5TD does not support manual flight using a remote controller. Confirm the Dock-operated workflow before ordering. See the official Aircraft FAQ.
Is this combo a complete Dock 4 installation?
No. Both variants include the O4 Ground Station, but Dock 4 is a separate listing. Confirm flight batteries, installation, network access and software scope in the quotation. See DJI Dock 4 and the official system topology.
Can the AP1 parachute be reused after deployment?
No. DJI requires replacement of the deployed parachute system. Its manual also calls for regular inspection at least every six months. Include these lifecycle requirements when choosing the AP1 combo. See the AP1 post-deployment and inspection instructions.
Can I assume 4G and every sensing feature are available in Canada?
Confirm the exact deployment first. DJI makes aircraft 4G availability and supported radio bands region-dependent, and warns that mmWave radar can be restricted or unavailable in some regions. Verify Canadian support, the carrier and local coverage before relying on these functions. See DJI regional availability notes and aircraft sensing and transmission specifications.
Can I discuss the Matrice 5TD combos with SpeedyDrone in Toronto?
Yes. Contact the team at the 991B Bay Street showroom in Toronto to discuss your requirements. Specify MAT5TD-O4-CB or MAT5TD-O4-AP1-CB, and confirm stock, display availability and eligible pickup before visiting. See our Toronto showroom guide.
Does SpeedyDrone serve Matrice 5TD buyers elsewhere in Canada?
Yes. Canadian buyers can request combo-selection and purchasing guidance remotely. Include the selected SKU, payloads and destination postal code so availability and shipping can be confirmed. The shipping policy provides the general delivery terms.
What after-purchase support can I request for Matrice 5TD?
Contact SpeedyDrone for order follow-up, product questions and service enquiries. Repair intake needs a written arrangement, with repair work performed by a partner. Confirm any commissioning, operator training or ongoing support scope separately. See our repair-intake policy before bringing or shipping equipment.
