Pair Osmo Pocket 4 or 4P with the drone that supplies your missing shot: Neo 2 for short personal-follow clips, Flip or Lito X1 for an approachable aerial-camera setup, Mini 5 Pro for compact travel, Air 3S for dual-camera aerial coverage, Avata 360 for panoramic reframing, or Mavic 4 Pro for a defined commercial imaging need.
Keep the camera you already own if it does the ground-level job. Choose Pocket 4P over Pocket 4 when a separate 60mm ground camera matters to your work, not because you are buying a more expensive drone. These are editorial starting points, not universal rankings or preconfigured discounted bundles.

Find your buying route
01 Do You Need Pocket 4 or Pocket 4P?
Choose Pocket 4 for a straightforward wide-angle ground camera. Its 20mm-equivalent lens suits a person speaking to camera, movement through a place and environmental detail. Choose Pocket 4P if you regularly need a tighter ground-level composition as well: its separate 60mm-equivalent camera can isolate a face, a product or an architectural feature when there is suitable working distance.
Pocket 4P uses two physical cameras, not just a crop to create its 60mm view. You select the relevant lens; it is not two independent simultaneous recordings. A tighter lens is useful only when you will make those shots. For mostly walk-and-talk footage or small interiors, spending more on the handheld camera may solve less than improving sound or keeping the budget for the drone.

The Standard Combo listings are C$649 for Pocket 4 and C$859 for Pocket 4P on the checked date: a C$210 difference before tax. That difference buys a different ground-camera option; it does not unlock a drone connection. Neither Pocket turns the aircraft into a synchronized two-camera recording system. For the lens decision itself, read the Pocket 4P 20mm versus 60mm guide.
02 What Kind of Aerial Footage Do You Need?
Describe one shot you cannot make now before choosing an aircraft. “A short view of me walking” is a different purchase brief from “a carefully positioned exterior composition” or “a panorama I can reframe later.” The distinction changes the control equipment, filming interruption and editing work you accept.
- Put yourself in the scene
- Start with Neo 2. Compare Flip too if palm-based filming and a controller kit both appeal.
- Compose a conventional aerial view
- Compare Lito X1, Flip and Mini 5 Pro. Move to Air 3S when its second aerial camera has a job.
- Choose a viewing direction later
- Explore Avata 360 and budget for panoramic review, reframing and storage.
- Meet a specific client brief
- Assess Air 3S or Mavic 4 Pro against required perspectives and deliverables, not the word “professional.”
Neo 2 supports palm operation, personal-follow modes and gesture control under DJI’s stated conditions. Gesture control is not available in every mode. Remote-controller or goggles operation requires its Digital Transceiver and a compatible control setup; the Drone Only price is not the cost of that expanded kit.
Flip also supports palm-based shooting, so the choice is not “hands-free Neo versus remote-only Flip.” Its foldable full-coverage propeller guards are a design difference, not permission to fly around people. DJI states that Flip’s intelligent functions, including Subject Tracking, do not support obstacle avoidance. Tracking does not make either aircraft an unattended camera.

THE SERIES DECISION CENTRE
03 The Best Pocket + Drone Pairings by Creator Type
Use the table to choose a reading route, then test that route against your locations and budget. The Pocket choice is deliberately flexible: a Pocket 4 owner does not need a 4P merely to add Mini 5 Pro, Air 3S or Mavic 4 Pro. Equally, a 4P can accompany a small personal-filming drone.
On a phone, swipe the table sideways. The first column stays visible.
| Your main project | First pairing to consider | Why this route / next read |
|---|---|---|
| Solo vlog & follow | Pocket 4 + Neo 2 | A personal-filming routine, with control conditions to understand. Solo-vlogger comparison → |
| Travel vlog | Pocket 4 + Flip | Consider the RC 2 kit if deliberate aerial framing fits your outings. Neo 2 or Flip workflow → |
| First kit | Pocket 4 + Lito X1 | A starting point for learning separate ground and remote-controlled aerial jobs. First-kit guide → |
| Travel stories | Pocket 4P + Mini 5 Pro | Wide and tighter ground views plus compact aerial geography. Travel-kit guide → |
| Property video | Pocket 4P + Air 3S | Interior context and details, then wide or medium-tele exterior views. Real-estate workflow → |
| 360° creative video | Pocket 4 + Avata 360 | Ground narrative plus viewing directions selected from a panorama. Reframed storytelling guide → |
| Brand films | Pocket 4P + Mavic 4 Pro | A tighter ground view and three aerial focal lengths, if the brief needs them. Plan a commercial shoot → |
Travel, property or a commissioned production?
Mini 5 Pro’s 24mm-equivalent camera provides a conventional aerial viewpoint without turning this into a multi-lens aircraft purchase. Air 3S adds separate 24mm and 70mm cameras; that matters when wide context and a selected exterior detail both belong in the brief. Mavic 4 Pro extends the aerial choices to 28mm, 70mm and 168mm. More focal lengths are useful when a lawful aircraft position and a specific composition justify them, not simply because a client is paying.

Choose 360° for the edit, not just the headline resolution.
Avata 360 is a different capture choice rather than the next rung above Mini or Air. Its 360° mode records a panorama from which an editor selects a view. The full panorama’s resolution is not the resolution of every extracted flat frame. Choose it for that creative flexibility only if you want the added reframing work. The linked RC 2 kit is a traditional-controller route, not a goggles-and-motion package.

04 Choose Based on What You Already Own
The least expensive useful upgrade is often one device, not a replacement system. Inventory the camera, controller model, batteries, audio and editing tools you can actually reuse. “DJI” on two products is not enough evidence that their controllers or accessories work together.

You already own Pocket 4 or 4P
Keep it. Select the missing aerial role from the table and compare the incremental drone package cost. A move from Pocket 4 to 4P should have its own ground-level justification.
You already own a drone
Buy a Pocket only if ground speech, close coverage or handheld movement is the gap. Decide wide versus wide-plus-60mm separately. Do not replace the aircraft merely to match the pairing shown here.
You own neither
Set a complete spending ceiling, then choose the role you will use most. Buying the ground camera first and adding aerial capability after several finished videos is a valid plan.
For an existing controller, supply the exact model when checking a drone-only offer. Confirm the current manufacturer compatibility list, required firmware and any transmission accessory before assigning a saving. Also check who can use the controller during the shoot: one compatible controller does not mean two aircraft can be operated as one simultaneous system.
PRICE THE SYSTEM, NOT THE BOX
05 Understand the Total Kit Cost
Start with exact packages, then add only the costs your operation needs. The table below adds the checked camera and aircraft offers; it is not a like-for-like bundle comparison or a final shoot-ready quotation. Some routes include more batteries or a screen controller than others.

CAD, before tax and delivery, checked October 17, 2026. These are separate listing prices, not bundle discounts. The checked offers display Backorder messaging; several older descriptions also say “In Stock.” Confirm availability, box contents and timing with SpeedyDrone before ordering.

The controller changes the real entry price.
RC-N3 uses a compatible phone for the flight view. RC 2 has a built-in screen. Decide which arrangement you want before comparing a low aircraft price with a more complete package. A separate phone, compatible cable or transmission module can change the purchasing route.
For example, the Lito X1 base offer includes RC-N3 and one standard flight battery; it is not the same equipment list as a Fly More package with extra batteries and a hub. Existing Pocket owners should subtract the camera they already own from the reference subtotal, rather than treating it as money they must spend again.

Your operation & checkout
Applicable certification or training, permissions, any required insurance, tax and delivery. Insurance requirements can come from a client or location; do not assume a universal price or requirement.
Reserve time as well as money. A more involved aerial system can cost you a separate filming window, file review and additional edit work. Avata 360 adds direction selection after capture; a multi-camera aircraft adds lens decisions. If you cannot make room for that work, a cheaper device may not be the bottleneck. Test a small project before expanding the kit.
06 When You Do Not Need Two Devices
Stay ground-only when the story is speech, food, indoor visits, people or detail and an aerial view adds little. A reliable phone or existing camera may already cover that role, making a drone the only missing purchase. Conversely, a Pocket alone can be a complete travel-vlogging kit when your destinations offer few suitable flying opportunities.
Do not budget around a hoped-for flight at a location you have not checked. A smaller aircraft does not repair an unsuitable site, and a second handheld camera does not repair unclear sound. Finish a representative video with your present equipment and name the missing shot before upgrading.
Buy the viewpoint you cannot already make.
For a solo creator, two devices also mean two separate operating phases. Put the handheld camera away before giving the flight your attention. Do not plan to pilot while framing a Pocket shot. The purchase should support a workable filming routine, not demand that you divide your attention to justify it.
07 Canadian Drone Rules Before You Buy
Use the actual ready-to-fly aircraft weight, including its battery and anything attached or carried. Transport Canada distinguishes microdrones under 250g from small drones starting at 250g. Aircraft capability, proximity to people and airspace also matter; payment for a video does not by itself determine the operation category. Consult the current operation categories and pilot certificates before committing to a kit or job.
Do not assume every Mini 5 Pro is below the threshold. DJI lists approximately 249.9g ±4g and directs owners to check the actual product and local requirements. Battery and accessory choices can matter for lightweight models. The aircraft you take off with, not the smallest number in an advertisement, belongs in your assessment.
Under Transport Canada’s microdrone rules, pilots do not need drone registration or a pilot certificate for a microdrone, but aviation safety, restricted airspace and other laws still apply. Check site access, privacy and land-manager restrictions separately. Parks Canada places are no-drone zones for recreational use; commercial filming needs its own approval process. Treat this as a buying checklist, not permission for an individual flight.
08 Find the Right Kit at SpeedyDrone
Bring three things to the purchase conversation: your exact existing equipment, a short description of the footage you need, and a ceiling for the complete kit. Include a representative location and whether you prefer a phone-based or built-in-screen flight view. That is more useful than asking for the “best” drone without defining the job.
Use the linked product groups to check each exact offer, then follow the pairing table to the detailed guide. If you are still choosing the ground camera, browse the Pocket 4 collection and compare the separate Pocket 4P listing above. Ask for a current itemized kit comparison before treating any price here as a final budget.
Questions Before You Choose
Is there one best DJI drone for both Pocket 4 and Pocket 4P?
No. The ground camera does not determine the aerial requirement. A personal-follow clip, a compact travel view, a property exterior and a reframed panorama are different jobs. Start with the missing shot and the locations where you can obtain it. Then check the control setup, complete price and extra work. The seven routes above narrow the search; they are not a test-based ranking or a claim that every creator in a category needs the same equipment.
Should I upgrade Pocket 4 to 4P before buying a drone?
Only if the ground camera’s additional perspective solves a separate problem. A Pocket 4 that already records your speech, movement and wide scenes remains useful alongside any suitable aerial system. The 4P’s dedicated 60mm camera is relevant when you need tighter ground coverage and have room to compose it. Compare that benefit with the footage an aircraft would add. Neither purchase should be justified simply by matching the model names in a suggested pairing.
Can I use one controller across different DJI drones?
Sometimes an existing controller can reduce the missing-equipment list, but compatibility must be confirmed for the exact aircraft, controller and current firmware. Do not assume every RC 2 or RC-N-series combination is supported because it looks similar. Neo 2 also needs its Digital Transceiver for remote-controller or goggles operation. Before buying Drone Only, identify the items you already own and get the remaining parts checked. Shared compatibility does not mean simultaneous operation of two aircraft from one controller.
Are the lowest-priced pairings ready for the same kind of flight?
No. The reference prices represent different package contents. Neo 2 Drone Only supports a different starting control route from a kit containing RC 2. The table also mixes base and Fly More offers, so battery counts and charging accessories are not standardized. First decide how you intend to operate, then request a complete parts list for that route. Compare the money still required, not only the smallest subtotal. Availability and any delivery estimate need separate confirmation.
Does an Avata 360 make Mini 5 Pro or Air 3S unnecessary?
Not automatically. A panorama gives the editor a later choice of viewing direction, while a conventional aerial camera lets you compose a selected frame during capture. Those approaches can serve different productions. Reframing uses only part of a panorama, so a full-capture resolution label does not describe every extracted flat view. Decide whether later direction choices solve your project’s problem, then test the output and computer workflow. Buying 360° capability solely for a larger resolution number is not a useful selection rule.
Do paid Canadian videos always require an Advanced certificate?
No. Do not use “paid” as the sole classification test. Assess the aircraft’s actual operating weight and the proposed operation using Transport Canada’s current categories, including airspace and proximity to people. A client can impose additional insurance, training or access requirements, but those contractual conditions are not the same as the aviation category. Confirm both before accepting work. This guide does not determine whether a specific site, aircraft configuration or proposed flight is authorized.
What should I buy first if my budget cannot cover both devices?
Buy for the footage you will use most and can realistically obtain. If your story depends on speech and ground details, begin with a suitable existing camera or Pocket, finish several videos and add the drone later. If ground coverage is already reliable, price only the aerial addition. Keep enough budget for needed recording, charging and operating requirements. There is no benefit to owning both boxes immediately if you cannot use or complete the work they introduce.
